Credits & Refunds Policy

Credits are prepaid money for provider usage. Here is exactly how they are bought, spent, refunded and expired.

1. How credits work

Credits are a US-dollar prepaid balance on your Squiid account. They pay for metered usage at the providers you connect (tokens, messages, minutes, gigabytes, requests) at the provider's own list price, with no markup. $1 of credits buys $1 of usage.

Credits are spent oldest first. Usage is metered per request at the gateway and shown in your dashboard with the connected service, the key and the agent that caused it, so every cent is traceable to a call.

Credits are a prepayment for services, not a deposit, security, stored-value instrument or electronic money. They earn no interest, have no value outside Squiid, and are non-transferable: they cannot be moved between accounts, sold, gifted or assigned, and they do not survive a change of account owner except as part of a business transfer we approve in writing.

2. The fee on a top-up

We take our usage fee once, when you buy credits, never on the spend itself:

PlanFee at top-upExample: $100 of credits
Free15%You pay $115.00 and get $100.00 of credits
SoloFrom 8%At the starting rate you pay $108.00 and get $100.00 of credits
TeamFrom 7%At the starting rate you pay $107.00 and get $100.00 of credits
Custom3% or lessYou pay $103.00 or less and get $100.00 of credits

On Solo and Team the rate is tiered and falls as your trailing 30-day API spend through the platform rises: Solo is 8% below $100, 6.5% from $100 to $500, 5% from $500 to $2,000 and 3.5% from $2,000 to $10,000, and Team is one percentage point lower at each step (7%, 5.5%, 4% and 3%). The examples above use the starting rate; at the lowest Solo rate of 3.5% the same $100 of credits costs $103.50. The Free plan is a flat 15% and has a $50 minimum top-up; on the paid plans there is no minimum beyond the smallest amount the dashboard offers.

The fee is shown before you confirm and itemised on the receipt and the monthly invoice. Applicable taxes are calculated by Stripe Tax and added on top. Changing plans changes the fee on future top-ups only; credits already bought keep their par value.

The top-up fee is not refundable, including when the credits it was charged on are refunded. It pays for the aggregation, funding and reconciliation work that happened when you bought them.

3. The monthly platform fee

The Solo, Team and Custom platform fee is separate from credits and is billed in advance. It is not refundable for a period already started, except where the law requires it, where we terminate for convenience, or where we have materially failed to provide the platform. Cancel any time and you keep access until the end of the paid period; we do not bill you again.

Seats added mid-cycle are pro-rated. Seats removed take effect at the next renewal and are not refunded for the current one.

4. Pass-through subscriptions

Subscription-priced services (Supabase Pro at $25 per month, for example) appear on your Squiid invoice at the provider's price with no Squiid fee. Because we buy them from the provider on your behalf, the provider's refund rules govern: if they do not refund a part-used month, we cannot either. We pass through any credit or refund the provider gives us, in full.

Cancel a pass-through subscription in the dashboard and it ends at the provider at the end of the paid period. If a renewal cannot be funded, we email you about a week ahead and then pause the plan rather than renew it.

5. The 24-hour refund window

You can request a refund of unspent credits within 24 hours of the purchase. Request it from the billing page or email support@squiid.io with the receipt.

  • Only the unspent portion of that purchase is refundable. Credits already spent at a provider have been paid to that provider and cannot be recalled.
  • The top-up fee is not refunded, and neither are taxes already remitted where the tax authority does not allow a reversal.
  • Refunds go back to the original payment method only, in the original currency. We cannot send a refund to a different card, a bank account or another person. If the original method is closed, ask your bank about a redirected refund; where that is impossible we hold the balance as credit until you give us a workable method.
  • Refunds are usually issued within 3 business days and appear on your statement within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.
  • Currency conversion and cross-border fees charged by your bank are not refundable by us.

Outside the 24-hour window, credits are non-refundable except where consumer law in your jurisdiction says otherwise, where we terminate for convenience, where we make a material adverse change to the Terms that you reject, or where we agree in writing. We consider genuine mistakes (a duplicate top-up, a mistyped amount, an auto top-up that fired after you meant to cancel) case by case, and we usually fix them.

We do not refund spend caused by your own code or agents. See Terms, Section 10; use spend caps and scoped keys.

6. 12-month expiry

Credits expire 12 months after the date of purchase if they have not been spent. Each top-up carries its own expiry date, and because credits are spent oldest-first your earliest purchases are consumed first.

We email you at 60, 30 and 7 days before a batch of credits would expire, and the dashboard shows the expiry date and amount for each batch. Expired credits cannot be reinstated and are not refundable. Top up, spend down, or (within the 24-hour window after purchase) do not buy more than you need.

7. What happens when credits run out

Calls through your Squiid key pause. The gateway returns a clear error to your code and your agents rather than spending money you have not funded, and we email you.

  • Nothing is deleted. Your account, keys, connected services, configuration, invoices and audit history are untouched.
  • Subscriptions that cannot be funded are paused, not renewed. A paused plan may lose provider features immediately under the provider's own downgrade rules: for instance a database may be throttled or suspended. That is the provider's behaviour, not ours.
  • You are never billed for usage you did not fund. We do not front money to providers on your behalf.
  • Top up and traffic resumes immediately. There is no reactivation fee.

Because some providers report cost after the fact, a small amount of usage can land after the balance hits zero. We record it as a negative balance and deduct it from your next top-up rather than charging your card by surprise.

8. Auto top-up and spend caps

Auto top-up is off until you switch it on. When you enable it you set three numbers: the balance that triggers a top-up, the amount to buy, and the maximum we may charge in a period. We never exceed that maximum without asking you first. Each auto top-up gets its own receipt and carries the usual top-up fee and its own 12-month expiry and 24-hour refund window.

Spend caps (daily, monthly, per service and per key) are applied at the gateway. They are best-effort: providers that meter asynchronously can report a little over a cap after the fact, and that usage is still payable. Pair caps with scoped keys for anything autonomous.

You can disable auto top-up at any time; it takes effect immediately, but a charge already in flight will complete.

9. Billing errors, disputes and chargebacks

Tell us about a billing error within 60 days of the invoice date by emailing support@squiid.io with the invoice number and what looks wrong. We will investigate and, if we got it wrong, refund or credit you. Amounts not disputed within 60 days are treated as accepted.

Please talk to us before filing a chargeback: most disputes are metering questions we can answer from the audit trail. A chargeback filed without contacting us may lead to immediate suspension while the bank's process runs, and we may recover the bank's dispute fee and any spent balance. We provide the audit trail as evidence in the dispute.

10. Closing your account

On closure we stop billing you, cancel pass-through subscriptions at the end of their paid period, revoke your keys and delete the provider credentials we hold. Migrate any provider account you want to keep into your own name before you close.

Unspent credits older than 24 hours are not refundable on voluntary closure, so spend them first. If we close or terminate your account for convenience, or you reject a material change to the Terms, we refund unspent credits (not the fees) to the original payment method. Where we terminate for abuse, we may withhold refunds while we investigate and where a legal hold applies.

Where unclaimed-property law in your state or country requires a residual balance to be escheated rather than expired, we comply with that law and it overrides the expiry rule above.
